Big Hassle
By

This bank is currently providing the best rate, but setting up an account is a hassle. For example, Countrywide allows you to immediately setup your account online - you just need to call them after you get an email so that you get your account number for wiring the money. Corus requires you mail in the documents and wait before wiring (up to 10 days). Of course, which ever bank has the best rate, but Countrywide was a much cleaner setup.

In Step With Transfers

I have no problem with ACH transfers. I have my Fidelity brokerage account and Amtrust eSavings linked to both my checking and Ultimate Monet Market Account at Corus. Corus does not do the linking. The accounts have to be linked from outside Corus. I have been with Corus for many years and have always had good service.

Opened their SavingsLink account two days ago and I already have two outside accounts linked to it and my initial electronic transfer is already in the account! Customer service was overly helpful and the Loss Prevention guy (because of my fraud alerts)was very helpful. I just hope the rate stays up for awhile.

Long wait for the call

Terrible and nightmare experience of phone service. They are experience the high volume of calls and you have to wait AT LEAST 15 minutes, I don't have a time to hold that long. After 15 attempts of tring to call them in 10 days fell. I gave up about buying CDs here.

Nobody home at GMAC phones
By

I just tried to open a 1 year CD online. At the end of the online process, I got a message saying to call the 1-888 number to complete the process. So I did. After several minutes of wading through the voice menus, I sat on hold for 12 minutes. Then I hung up and opened a CD account online with IndyMac Bank instead.

Rediculous limits on electronic transfers.
By

In additon to extreme limits on electronic transfers, funds being transferred are held in limbo for many days without generating interest, which means Flagstar's advertised interest rates are misleading.

Customer Service?

Bank transfers are agonizingly slow--almost a week in most cases
The interest rate is good. It is also difficult to transfer funds. I have put up with them for four months, but no more. Their customer service reps are apathetic at best. They can answer your questions, but that's about it.

We have had CD's with E-Loan. The transactions have gone timely and smoothly, including having some funds sent back to us and some renewed. They were also good at reminding us before the CD's expired.

Numerous problems
By
Chris
from
Washington

4/23/2008
Be careful creating CD accounts on the website. I accidently created two which cost me over $500 in fees. ELoan eventually fixed the problem, but had I had less cash on hand it would have cost me even more. Dealing with the customer service was frustrating in the extreme. I will not use Eloan again.

Very good, must be getting better.

Based on the reviews below, Discover must be getting a lot better. Their CDs have good rates. Setting up and funding the account was a breeze. I have opened online CDs with several banks (Doral in particular was painstakingly slow and difficult)but this one was the easiest so far. I did it on my lunch break and the funds transfered in a couple of days using ACH. Very happy so far.

Ive had a DIS MM and DIS card for many years. The DIS card website is fairly easy to use but the Discover MM website is horrible. It is difficult to navigate around the site, the help and contact pages contact only an average amount of info and setting up online transfers for the MM is a pain.

Yikes! Read the disclosure (truth in savings)
By

I was all ready to deposit but in the "Pot of Gold" Money market disclosure it says: If you close your account before interest is credited, you won't receive the accrued interest. That could be hundreds of dollars. This isn't a CD! Interest is compounded daily but credited MONTHLY. It's on their website but you have to dig for it. You folks need to change that if you want my money.

A Little Slow Sometimes
By
fuzzygenius

Sign up was painless, and completed very fast. Somewhat annoying that they do not allow for ACH transfers for initial deposits. Customer service has always been very fast responding to my emails (I've not called them yet). Their rates seem to be consistently high, so I don't have to worry about shuffling my money all over the country to get good rates. Any transfers do take longer than seems otherwise normal, and the person below is right: transfers to external accounts do not always start right away. The good: internal transfers happen immediately, even when initially funding CDs, etc. They're willing to fund from an internal account even before they get your signature card. All-in-all, I've been pretty pleased. The slow transfers, with their unpredictable start dates, are the only reason I give a 4 instead of 5 star review.

Not the Best
By
rob5i

I'm continually disappointed with banks that don't provide at least monthly statements. I'm talking about the most fundamental information: The current balance, the interest made this month, the interest rate, the total account value. In 1985 in the BASIC computer language I could write a program that would provide this information. I had to call, wait and wonder if my money was safe in an institution that didn't provide that simple service.

Good Service so far

I opened a 1-yr. jumbo CD in January this year. Funds were transfered by ACH from my account. They did not start paying interest on the day funds were transfered as some banks do. Interst started 6-days later, as it took that long to get account set up because of information that had to be sent by US mail. Account was set up in middle of month, but did not receive interest check until end of month. Called cust. service which was very helpful and prompt and they told me interest checks were mailed at end of month. I received the check day before the end of month. I do not have a MM account, otherwise interest would be deposited the due date. I will have to see how things go before I rate more than 3 stars.
